Correspondence, telegrams, soundscribers, memos, certificates of posting, magazine and newspaper clippings concerning: the opening of the Dunn International Exhibition; Randolph Churchill's visit to Fredericton, N.B.; selection of the speaker (Jean Lesage) and honorary degree recipients for the fall Convocation; Beaverbrook's intention to establish an archives at Cherkley (his London, England home) and his desire for it to be affiliated with UNB; Mackay's announcement of a new building fund campaign; St. Thomas University's move from Chatham, N.B. to UNB campus and the construction of the Teacher's College. Mention is made of several donations to UNB including: fifteen thousand dollars from Geoffrey Gaherty; a digital computer from New Brunswick Electric Power Commission; a portrait of John W. McConnell (from son his John G. McConnell) to be hung in the new dining hall and a parcel of land (located at Sewell Street, Saint John, N.B.) from Lord Beaverbrook. (CONTINUES). (CONTINUED) Also discussed is the possibility of establishing post-graduate scholarships for African students through the Rockefeller Foundation; Beaverbrook's wish to drop Overseas Scholarships in favour of increasing the value or number of undergraduate awards; various publications by UNB professors, G.A. McAllister and G.V LaForest; Beaverbrook's wish to remain non-political in Canada and his refusal to allow the National Conservative Party meetings at UNB; the Sir James Dunn Scholarships in Law; candidates for the Beaverbrook-Mackay Special Fund and proposed changes in its administration, Beaverbrook's receipt of an Honorary Degree from St. Andrews and the death of Colin B. Mackay's father.
